Just curious and nosy, can you just give us an idea on issues you had in that 7000 miles, and maybe the reason for the trade?
The only issues I had was 1st, replacing wheels bearings which are always the case with a Grizzly or Kodiak and 2nd, I had to have the one way bearing in the clutch replaced twice under warranty when my engine braking went away. I traded it in for the same reason I have on all of my ATVs which is I wanted to do it while it still held value, in the later case it was down to $3500 and the Dealer will try and get $4500.

Only two issues. Changing wheel bearing is standard procedure with any Grizzly or Kodiak after around 3,000 miles. The other issue was covered under the extended warranty program when the dealer twice replaced the one way bearing in the clutch due to loss of engine braking.

The size of the Kodiak is what first drew me in. I am 5'-4" tall on a good day and bigger quads are just too much for me to handle comfortably. The value (EPS model)and quality over others in the dame class was very good.

I love medium speed crusing through twisty narrow trails. I am going to West Virginia next fall so the 4 wheel drive system with the diff lock is a must.

I got the Kodiak, for the way it looks and it is a power house for working with, even if it is dark metallic blue with a gray.. silver metallic wheel... wanting to change out the wheels though... mine was one of the last ones left with a 1500lbs warn winch and heavy duty back 2" square hitch. And it has lots of extras now. Thanks for letting me into the Kodiak Forum as well.

welcome to the forum, send some pictures of your Kodiak.

Mine was the feel when seated on the two.
The Grizzly had a wider tank area at the front of the seat that just didn't fit me well, and the Kodiak felt like it was custom made for me. Perfectly comfortable.
There have been times that the Kodiak just squeaked through or by something that the Grizzly just would not have been able to do.
Zero regrets, cost/mods and all.

I know this is an older thread, and i am new but i figured i would add what brought me to a Kodiak.

I have a 2005 Suzuki Eiger 400. Great little machine. plowed with it, hunted fished but it just was starting to not keep up and the family had grown and we needed another machine. to be honest i had started to get a 2019 Suzuki King quad but the nearest dealership is 4 hours away so i said no to that idea. I walked into my local Yamaha dealer that i had bought a few sleds from and asked them what would fit my budget, their answer was anything on the floor.

I started looking at the Grizzly due to the big name. The sales manager is a family friend and asked WHY? I told him i needed to plow, pull boats, wood, deer and other work around my house. But i also wanted to trail ride some times. The sales Manager told me the Kodiak would be a far better choice due to the nature of the hard work i was going to put it through.

i wanted Camo and haven't turned back since.

Good choice, I got the Kodiak for the same reasons. Welcome.

I had been looking for a Grizzly for a couple of years then when my 2000 Kodiak came up with a problem that I didn't want to deal with I widened my scope.

I picked mine up off of Craig's List just in front of the repo man. I actually went to the dealer that sold it to the person and paid it off and gave the guy a couple hundred plus. He argued a little saying that it was worth more but I just told him that I'd let the repo man take it if he didn't like my offer.

It is a base model but I have done some additions to it and the only other thing that I wished was on it was the power steering.

I think that with a Kodiak you get the best in both worlds of the two for less money and with a couple additions I think that you have a better machine than the Grizzly.

Great story!

I went with the Kodiak for one main reason, the fact that it is geared a bit lower and sits lower than the Grizzly. Bonus was the $1000+ savings [Both were 2019 models].
Congrats on the new toy...

They are not geared lower then the grizzly. Matter of fact the heavier 30 gram weights in the primary sheave makes them shift up (shift to a higher gear) sooner then the 18 gram weights in grizzlys do.

Thanks! Took a ride today and loved it. Going to take a little getting used to in the throttle department, but shouldn't take too long.

So he used the wrong terminology from what I just read, the Kodiak is tuned to give more low end for working ATV duty and the Grizzly has more top end and is better equipped for high speed recreational riding. I bought it to work in the woods rather than jetting around at high speed.
