Hey, figured I'd join the forum and ask some more knowledgeable people, picked up the wife's new 450 on Friday had other errands to run so ran it 3 miles and parked it in the shop where she parks, didn't expect her to just jump on and go without a call first to at least say thanks for picking up, well she kinda knew about break in but come to find out she did maintain rpms to an extent didnt fluctuate rpms as much as I would've liked and admitted to checking how fast it would go after about the 12 mile mark, shes been very honest on what she didn't follow in the manual my question is do you all think it suffered any I'll effects on her 30 mile cruise? She said she got it up to speed long enough to hit top speed accelerating slowly from 30 and backed off to about 30 after hitting 50 and immediately dropped it back down and maintained that speed stopping occasionally for the 30 mile trip

I know I'm probably doing some overthinking, I just know she took off down the gravel roads that go for probably 35 miles straight down no stops... Cruised it for about an hour straight and stopped maybe 3 times she did say she mostly went about 30 consistently, so I was just trying to follow the owners manual to the t with her new ride and wanted her to move around in the rpm range and did not want her to go 50 which I've researched and should be about full throttle, I know I'm being paranoid but she kinda picked this out without a huge conversation it's a lot of money and want it to be in tip top condition for years to come

Thank you both you guys have made me feel a good bit better as this is a huge purchase for us! So are you thinking I should change the oil prior to the 200 mile mark the dealer recommended? Sorry I bought my grizzly with 400 miles on it and my recon unknown so haven't dealt with this in a wheeler before???

It will never hurt to change the oil a bit early in this case. I mostly buy a machine, run it for around 100 or so miles, and change the oil to get any manufacturing waste flushed out. I did that on my TW200 (Yamaha motorcycle) and you could see some very fine metallic shine in the oil. It is not unusual and always good to get it out sooner than later.
