Hello! I just bought Yamaha kodiak 700 EPS SE, I came across a problem if the machine shuts down to the difficult terrain, the engine will not be able to start before you get the gear in neutral or park position. When machine is stuck you cant sift it to neutral or Park. Brake pedal or lever dont make any difference on that. I have Been told that the blocking comes from onboard computer.
Do you know anything about how to fix or bybass this?

Im from Finland and im not sure do I have exactly same machine here. there might be some diffence with US and Europo models?

Check you owners manual for starting the engine, it may give you an answer about your particular model .

For my Kodiak: I can start it in Park without any brake applied, also in Neutral. I am able to start it in any gear ( H, L or R) if I apply the rear brake -witch is the foot pedal or the Left handlebar lever. There is a brake switch for the rear brake located by the left rear tire that may need adjustment - it is explained also in the owners manual. If it's out of adjustment you cannot start your ATV in any gear other than Park or N.

Also when your stopping in gear on an incline and there is load on the transmission gears you can still shift from gear to park or neutral by rocking the quad back and forth while shifting. This is normal for any auto transmission.

Sometimes mine is difficult to start and i just have to squeeze the crap out of the left brake handle and it'll start. is worth a shot ... just squeeze harder maybe?

When you squeeze the left brake handle or push the foot pedal does the brake light come on? If not, adjust the brake switch - that will allow the starter to engage even when you're in gear. I don't really like that setup, I had to adjust mine twice so far...either vibrates out of adjustment or that spring is elongating, I don't know:frown2:
