Strange plastic debris in engine oil

1991 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Sevignyg
Well, as this question is not for my Yam 700 but for a friends Kodiak 450, 2013.
When he, after some years with little driving, did change the engine oil, de did find this peculiar thing in the oil strainer after drained the engine oil.
It looks like pieces of some plastic gasket or similar.

Anybody that have seen something similar or can have a good theory of what it is or come from. The machine is working normally.

I was hoping someone would know what this was, I have no idea, but I don't think you need to be concerned.

Lol, I believe he meant to spell "bizzars". Anyway, to me it looks like some sort of gasket material.

Looks to me like rtv (silicone) not uncommon for it to become dislodged from surfaces it was used on. Especially if too much was used. Was it rubbery feeling? Seen it happen on cars and trucks that use rtv to seal oil pans and water pumps. Found in oil and coolant occasionally when changing fluids. That’s my best guess just looking at pic.
