2005 Kodiak 400. Starter relay was clicking. I had to replace the battery and starter relay. ( Im not so sure I had to buy the starter relay but i had to replace the batt )
So now I turn on the key and no headlights or tail lights, wont turn over...... I start it by jumping the relay. It starts fine but dies after 30 sec. Remove plug from starter relay, jump it again and starts and runs fine?????.
The batt is putting out 12.38v So Im thinking the ignition switch??

What's the forum think??

Was your problem fixed with a new and fully charged battery? If that is true and you have that same problem again that will point to your charging system not working properly and the new battery gets drained . A good and fully charged battery should read 12.6 V or better. When engine is running and charging the battery you should read over 14 volts.

Measure the voltage going to the control side of your starter relay. Should see 12v when you hit the starter. If you don't, follow it back. Check what's coming out of the switch. Could be a wiring problem. Do you have the wiring diagram?
