Stalling and Dying

Anybody else having these issues? Few issues in detail.

Starting: After setting overnight I go to start in the morning. Turn key to on, wait 10 seconds, hit starter button and unit fires up runs for 2 seconds and dies...WTF? Hit the starter button again, fires up and runs fine.

Stalling and dying: After idleing go to take of and unit dies. Fires back up runs fine.

Dying,Under load at slow speed: (New Issue)
Towing a small yard trailer 4x4 loaded with limbs not super heavy but loaded. Slow speed, fluctuating throttle through the trees. Get to a clearing and go to give it throttle to pick up speed and dies? Start it back up runs fine.

I thinking fuel issue but not sure. Anyone else having these issues? It's random and I can't make it happen just happens. I'm very finicky with my machine so minor things make me crazy.

is this a 2016? I have had a few stalls while plowing snow mainly when shifting gears and raising plow at the same time. Mine starts up fine and doesn't stall like you describe while moving like that though...
Same starting issue: Always starts second try but not first. May be cold weather issue but won't know until it warms up. Others having same issue:

It is a new 2016 kodiak , just dropped it off back at the dealer. I'll keep ya posted about what they find. I keep the unit in the shop that never gets below 40* and was having this issue when weather was warm also when I first got it, I've never had it successfuly start first time, first start of the day. It will once it every time after though. Thanks for the other link as well.
Could it possibly be something directly related to fuel delivery? Maybe temperature is impacting this with the way the system was designed to function.
My gut tells me it's a fuel pressure issue or air intake(lack of). I've tried different fuel and new plug with no change and it's not 100% consistent other then the cold start and it always dies, no stutter, just running, give it throttle and dead... Starts right back up and goes fine. Got me stumped at the moment.
Just tried starting mine after 2 days. This time I pushed the throttle once before I tried starting. Started first time.
Again today started first try with one push of the throttle prior to first attempt.
Talked to my dealer today, they said they are having the same starting and stalling issues as well with my unit while testing at there shop, they tested air flow and fuel pressure and said all looks good. They said they took videos and sent off to Yamaha this morning. Going to get a call from them Tuesday with Yamaha's response. My dealer said this is the first issue they have seen at there location with this issue. I'll update Tuesday after I get the call.
I was plowing snow with mine this morning and after about 15 mins. of plowing it started stalling when backing up but not dying. As soon as I started forward no stalling or hesitation at all. This is the first time in the month that I have owned it that it has run like this, even when plowing. FarNorthID I will be looking forward to hearing what the dealer finds with your unit. We are getting some really deep snow today and tonite so will see how it runs tomorrow when I plow the drive.

Den, I will update as soon as I hear from them in the morning, a possibility for your issue maybe the rev-limiter in reverse on the kodiaks, It will cause your unit to stutter and cut out but not die. I think it's more of a speed/safety precaution that is normal. Either way I'll for sure have something tomorrow. Good luck plowing with the new unit, I look forward to pictures and a review on how it did with the new deep snow. Planning on using mine for that next season. Have our 05 Kodiak setup for it and it does great currently.
Were you hitting the rev limiter in reverse....too fast and it cuts out

I thought about that but didn't think so. I have some plowing to do this morning so will test and see.
Must have been hitting the limiter yesterday. I don't think it is a rev limiter, but rather a speed limiter while in reverse. Anyway, operator error. LOL
I had my unit stall once the other day while I was out riding it. I was going pretty hard on it though, scared me a bit because I was in the middle of know where and could have been stranded but it started right way after. I was thinking it might have over heated but that dummy light never came on. Thank god.
What is a Rev limiter?
What is a Rev limiter?

A rev limiter is a devise, either mechanical or electrical, that limits how many RPMs an engine will turn at full throttle.
So far no major issues found, going on the computer tomorrow to get fuel mixture and load testing. Not sure how involved that is but I'll have an update tomorrow.
Got an update today, they found the TPS sensor (Throttle Positioning Sensor) erroring out, it's is running rich also which is believed to cause of the error. Waiting to hear back from Yamaha to see what the exact spec's are for factory default to see if I'm within tolerances. Definitely something not right just not sure what yet.
IT'S FIXED!!! faulty/failing TPS sensor was the main culprit. The fuel and airflow mixture settings was way off from the factory as well so that was found and cleared up while they had it. Once that was fixed they re-adjusted the actual thumb throttle to remove play/slop in it. Swapped out another spark plug so if there are anymore issues all is new. This thing runs better then it ever has since I've purchased it, allot more responsive and considerable amount more power.
