thanks guys. I looked at so many ATV's the past month or so. The Kodiak had all of the standard features I was looking for and my dealer included the winch. All I had to do was pay for labor. Got to admit, I came close to getting the Polaris Sportsman 570 and I'm glad I didn't. The Kodiak is just better.

To be honest, this is the first ATV I've owned since I was a kid. I use to ride around on the Honda 3 Wheelers back in the day. My father in law has a Kawasaki Mule that we've been using the past several years. Our blinds are only a few hundred yards from each other. I just thought it was time that I get something for me so I wouldn't have to depend on him so much.

Good call on getting you own, who knows maybe soon enough (if not already) he'll want to borrow the Kodiak!

Possibly even more so with changes you might do to it.

What was it about the Sportsman that caused you to go with the Kodiak. I'm stuck between the Sportsman 570 and the Kodiak, looking for input from Kodiak owners

I test drove a Sportsman 570.The ride was decent and for the money it came with a lot more, including a very nice "dashboard", better tires and rims, etc.

However, even though this was the closest dealer to me and I like the owners, I went with the Yamaha mainly for reliability as I know many friends who have had issues with Sportsmans over the years . . . plus I wasn't really keen on the location of the battery being so low and exposed as this seems to be just asking for problems.

Originally I was going to go with Honda . . . but a) the machines were much more expensive than most other brands, b) they didn't have what I wanted in their line up (a 600+ cc machine that is as good on the trail as it is working and vice versa -- the Rincon is set up more as a trail rider) and c) the features I wanted were either non-existent on some models or came at a much higher premium (i.e. IRS, power steering, automatic).
