Hello all, I just picked up my 2018 Kodiak 700 EPS yesterday from the dealer and I'm looking forward to being part of the forum. Although I not a new ATV owner, this is my first Yamaha. I will mostly use for hunting purposes, but I do plan to use it for recreation use on occasion and I cant wait to get it out on the trails next week. I do have a question for the group...the model I bought has the aluminum wheels with the 25 x 12 Maxxis tires. When I unloaded it off the trailer I noticed the rear tires were narrower than the front. Upon inspection, the 25 x 10 x 12's are on the front and the 25 x 8 x 12's are on the rear...shouldn't the 8's be on the front and the 10's o the rear?

Welcome to the site.

It is my belief that the narrower tire should be on the front. It may of just been a mistake by the dealer but the way dealers work anymore who knows.

JimP and sevennine...Thanks for confirming that the tires were mounted *** backwards...fortunately it's an easy fix! As far as hunting, in state (I live in Northern California...no I'm not one of those bleeding heart liberals!) I hunt upland game bird such as pheasant, turkey, quail, grouse, and dove. I'll mostly use the ATV for duck, pig and deer excursions. I also hunt in Wyoming every October for deer and antelope, and I've put in for elk in Wyoming and Colorado but no luck on the draw so far. My son currently lives in Oklahoma and his wife is from Texas so I plan to hunt with them in the near future. I'm a gun enthusiast and look forward to doing some trail riding and target shooting in the Northern Sierra Nevada's. Thanks a again for your replies.

I haven't look at the new Kodiak but on a old one the backspacing was different between the front and rear rims. So that is something you might need to look at.

Wow, that's one of the dumber assembly mistakes i've seen lol. But, given what your average dealer pays those who put the wheels on, it's not all that surprising. On a related note, my grandfather bought a new K car back when they first came out. It had been mixed up somehow during assembly and the back ended up being a Plymouth reliant and the front a dodge Aries. Two days after purchase, he took it back and exchanged it lol.

Rack I've a 2016 base Model. I hunt for elk and camp from it mostly in the Central Cascades, going moose hunting this year in Northern B.C.! My hauler is broke, won't be fixed 'till the end of the month :( so I'm going into withdrawals. Saw quite a bit of bear sign on my last excursion and desperately want to check it out again before the season opens the first of August.

I'm looking to expand my elk hunting grounds beyond Washington. This state is too far gone left and just went over the edge. Which place do you like better between Montana and Wyoming? I scoped the Beaverhead unit of Idaho last year but certain events conspired to prevent my hunt.

To illustrate my desperation with my broke truck situation, I'm going to a wedding/reception today. The onlyest thing preventing me from being out scouting that bear sign instead of typing and going to a wedding is.....a broke truck. I even inquired into renting one but the local shop had nothng available.

I contacted the dealer and informed them of the issue. They were very concerned and immediately sent a service tech to my house, picked up my Kodiak and took it back to the their shop to correct their error. The ATV was returned the same afternoon so all is good. I'll get it out to Prairie City SVRA on Friday for some break in riding...can't wait!
