Maintenance Minimal Brakes!

Yamaha says they've devised a minimal maintenance brake for the rear axle of the Kodiak...

To keep maintenance (and downtime) at a minimum, Yamaha outfitted the Kodiak with a new sealed rear wet brake. It lacks the same aggressive bite as the four-wheel discs on the Grizzly, but the design is basically maintenance free and Yamaha says it suffers no brake fade in water or mud.

Big fan of what they did here.
Being a work purpose ATV, it adds one more perk to owning one.

Agreed, iI'm interested to know more though. What makes them low maintenance, what protects them from fading in mud and water?

I started the thread brightlight. The article I provided doesn't include the differences between a sealed and unsealed rear brake setup, nor does MY OP.

Is it a wet drum or a wet disc???

Unless you have information that can bring the nuances to light you've missed the point of the thread...
We know it's a wet disc design. How would you rate the performance of this system ?
