How's the acceleration on the newer kodiak 450? How does it compare to a sportsman, rancher 420? Hopefully it's not to sluggish. It's probably what I'll end up buying soon. Not sure I'll have the coin for the 700.

Its not sluggish at all.

I'm sure it would smoke the honda, but considering the polaris has like 18 more hp than the kodiak.. the sportsman would walk both.

Have 2 Rancher 420's, ride with a newer 450 and the Rancher ES straight Axle is barely the quickest out of the 3 IF the person is good at shifting. My 420 DCT/IRS/EPS is noticeably slower. Same goes for top end speed. Both 420's use FAR less gas and the 450 eats about as much as my 700 but the Yak 450 rides better than either 420 and the Yamaha Power steering "feels" better.

Quickest out of the bunch will be a toss up between the honda and the kodiak, depending on rider weight. slowest being the polaris even though it's 6 hp more, it's heavy. The honda is about 150lb lighter than the yamaha, and that makes up for the much slower electric shifting.

420 honda 26hp 486lb, 450 kodiak 27hp 636lb, 450ho polaris 33hp 700lb.

A manual foot shift honda would dust them all provided is someone that knows how to shift properly.
My old 2002 450 foreman manual shift would dust my nephews 2014 420 honda ES off the line, but he would catch and pass me. Same result when we switch bikes, 120lbs difference between our weighs.

No worries i had the same happen when i was comparing bikes before i bought my 700 kodiak. Then i discovered the 44hp is the sportsman 570. Lol

Thanks for the replies. Gonna go get a 450 soon and I'm gonna pay cash. Called the nearest place and he said $8500 otd. Thats seems high. Msrp is 7299. Sound fair to you guys? I'll definitely call the next nearest place.

Remember that OTD is dealer prep and sales taxes. That figure could be in the ballpark
