Now a question for you, I was told about the 20 hour rule at a cost of $630, do I really have to have this done?

Yamahas recommender first maint. on their ATV's, all fluids changed & Valve inspection after the first 20 hours.

That sounds kind of high for the first service, you might want to check with another dealer. Changing the fluids is pretty easy, just don't over tighten the plugs, they can strip. There is a little more to adjusting the valves, however a lot of folks do it themselves.

That's high for a first service . I had a dealer in the area quote me $250 for that service.

Yeah wasn't taking him too serious. I've got another by our Northern Getaway who is much more reasonable.

Changing fluids yourself can't be too hard, plus the owners manual might state the details of how to do this or at least the basics.

According to the other dealer, you don't need to check valves, unless you have an issue.


So I plan on doing the fluid & filter changes.
