I have a 2016 Kodiak and except for start and kill issues it seems to be a good machine, I don't have many hours on it yet. I drive it through fields that are overgrown with weeds and some of them get broken off and wedged in by the main exhaust pipe coming off the engine. A particular type of weed has twice gotten trapped and started and continued to smoke for a long time. I have found it and removed it both times smoldering. I wish there was a fix for this, both of these were just this fall.

If it is a common occurrence with you and your machine I would be looking at putting some kind of guard on it where the weeds enter. A small piece of sheet metal or some expanded metal might be all you need.

Thanks for the reply and info. This is common and it is a problem, I looked at doing something like you describe and I have not come up with a solution yet. I am surprised that more don't have this issue and I wish Yamaha had a fix, they will some day!
