When I cold start my 2018 700 KodiaK, I let it idle for a bit. The engine clearly has a different quieter sound after 5 to 8 seconds. I think that idle time is vital to engine life. Anyone have any thoughts on that.

The only real way to minimize the effects of cold starts is to go with synthetic oil imo. I use synthetic in everything.

The wet clutches are knocky and noisy for the first 10 seconds of cold starts. It's the nature of the design.

I usually run full synthetic in everything to, but surprisingly my bike starts well in -25c with plain 10w40 Yamalube.

I have it on 5W40 Rotella T6 since the first change, and that seemed to be the consensus on the forum here, I think. Thanks for the input! I find the quieting after several seconds interesting.
