Vincent, is there a way to engage the decompression? My 91 Honda 4Trax 300 has a back up kick starter, and it has a decompression lever on the head that does make it much easier to kick and start.
You can't Manuel control this style like older bikes.

It's fully automatic decompressor. It's always on I.E. releasing cylinder pressure on the compression stroke, until your engine fires and revs higher then starter speed. Then centrifugal force retract the decompression pin before 1600 rpms idling speed.

Here is the centrifugal mechanism for the decompression pin on the 558 and 686cc SOHC engines

Yes, thanks! So when the engine is stopped it resets to decompression setting?
Exactly... somewhere at a certain rpm below idle, the decompression system is activated no matter what!
If your engine ain't running you compression stroke should be decompressed...
