I have a 2017 SE and the display is all scratched and faded. Can't read anything. I tried to polish it,didn't really help.
I am going to get a new display and saw the newer ones are $100 cheaper.
Are the new ones a direct replacement or are the different?

I would say that they are different.

If you look at the diagrams of them on a parts site the newer ones are larger and carry a different part number.

Not saying that you couldn't modify it and get it to work I think that I would stick with the one for your year.

You could possibly find a used one at a scrap yard.

Not compatible at all, totally different layout. Look at a cluster from a 16-18 vs a 19-23. Look at the size difference alone between them.
