SO HERE'S MY QUESTION : since my model did not come with a DIAGNOSTIC panel, Is it possible that there is an error code that is still present that may continue to prevent proper running? ( similar to some automotive operations that require code erased after repair ,to reset to known good computer values for proper operation) I have been having issues with my Kodiak for a few months ,starts , runs 5 seconds quits all the time. I have been through every inch of wiring, tested all sensors, switches, volt reg., pick up coil ,stator, fuel pump pressure, injector spray pattern etc. ,even changed a few questionable parts from a known good running Kodiak (See my original post in Engine & Transmission section for more details : "'16 Kodiak 700 starts then quits" - 1/11/23 post date). My closest dealer is 40 miles away and won't even attempt to answer this question. A simple yes or no would suffice.
Thanx

It's a possibility.

I just wish that there was a scanner that could read a code or do some diagnostics for the common person.

Looks like something that would be helpful with a problem that is going on.

Last time that I checked for one was a few years ago and I couldn't find anything.

Does anyone know if the diagnostic port is three or four pins?

I just remembered the OP had already swapped out a known good ECU unit and the problem still existed; so a trouble error still in "Memory or flagged" is highly unlikely? One would think? But still possible?
However, if this tool can give any information to help troubleshoot this its definitely a good investment; poor guy's already "field stripped" and changed/verified most of the likely culprits on his bike!

..One of the many I have looked at . Quite a few on AliExpress .They even have Yamaha FI Diagnostic tool replicas that I know work on the 700 Raptor.

There is a quite informative video series on YouTube from Yamaha Tech Academy that goes into EFI Systems and error codes and such. Most deal with on board instrument panels that have the diagnostics built into dashboard. It helped me trace a problem to a bad coolant temp sensor- which I hope it was . It relates that if the sensor fails, it defaults to a cold start condition because the ECU can't get a reading to control adjustment parameters - in this mode ,more fuel gets dumped in during run to prevent lean running. I have been thru 3 plugs after a few dozen run attempts that become black(fouled) from rich mixture which I was hoping after sensor replacement it would cure the problem -NOT!
