Just a reminder to everyone to stay safe while riding and watch out for booby traps. American Motorcyclist Association has recently released a report detailing the booby traps found along trails in three states.

Someone or some people are targeting off-highway-vehicle riders, this includes ATV and UTV riders, who uses trails on public land. The traps were discovered by motorcyclists and all-terrain-vehicle riders in Idaho, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

"This type of activity is extremely dangerous," said Rob Dingman, AMA president and CEO. "A motorcyclist who hits one of these traps can be seriously injured or even killed. We want anyone with information about these tactics to contact law enforcement immediately."

• In Massachusetts, riders found cables tied across trails at four state parks. They were tied from tree to tree, most likely with the intent to cause serious harm. If anyone around there notices any suspicious activity, please don’t be afraid to call the 24-hour Environmental Police line at (800) 632-8075 or the DCR Park Watch Hotline at (866) 759-2824 and report it. Also, the New England Trail Riders Association is offering a $500 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest.

• The Mount Moosilauke ATV Club Riders near Warren, New Hampshire, found boards with nails in them along with scattered nails and glass on the multi-use trail. Members were able to remove the dangerous materials before anyone was injured and they’re now offering a $1,350 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the culprits.

• Riders in Custer County, Idaho found a length of barbed wire hung across a trail around 4 feet off the ground.

Once again, please be cautious while riding and contact your local law enforcement authorities if you find a booby trap.

One big downside to this is we'll have to be very proactive, inspecting trails looking out for things like this since just riding slow and looking for them might not be good enough and put your in a situation where its too late.

It takes a special kinda Ahole to do something like that to someone. For the life of me I will never understand it.
I don't get it either.. I mean, it's not even anger directed towards a specific person (which I still wouldn't support) but it's just for anyone that would happen to be hitting the trails. They have no idea who it could be.

This is the work of the psycho/insane people.

I had this happen to me in WV i private land owner pulled a very small diameter wire across the trail and i hit it on my dirt bike, luckily it was my my dirt bike, it hit the headlight and shattered it and threw me from the bike { in 3rd gear } if i would have been on my atv I would not be here. Always watch out for thes malisous people setting these deadly traps! and always remain respectful of people and there property.
