2020 kodiak 700 won’t start

When I turn the key on a solenoid clicks but the fuel pump doesn’t come on. Replaced it. Still doesn’t start. The light on the dash that looks like a gas pump stays on. It will randomly start when the light goes off because the fuel pump is working when that happens. It has 12.4 volts on the wires going to the fuel level mechanism but not to the fuel pump. Any ideas on what to check would really be helpful.

Hi Mark, there are better troubleshooters on this forum, but the fuel level sensor must have a return voltage also? Perhaps 1/2 to represent a half tank of gas? 6.2 volts for example? You could check for that.
The main control may not enable voltage to the fuel pump, if, the return level voltage is around or close to 0 volts?

I just came out here and plug the wiring harness to the old pump to check and see the voltage drop with the float up or down and when I plugged it up and turned the switch on the pump came on and started running. I haven’t did anything to correct the problem, but now every time I turn the switch on the fuel pump comes on and runs and the engine starts no problem. So I unhook the connector for the fuel level mechanism on the old pump and the pump still comes on, and runs with the float unhooked.
Scratching my head.
Intermittent problems are tough, Start the wheeler and grab the plug and wiggle it and the wires to see if it cuts out .
Scratching my head too? Rob is right, intermittent problems are the worst! Just by plugging and unplugging you may have cleaned the contacts or reseated pins? At this stage I’d clean the contacts with contact cleaner or alcohol, and try it multiple times over a couple of days. At least it’s working for now 👍
