Rumor has it that there is a new Kodiak on the way!

So far it has been getting a lot of positive feedback from journalists and some current kodiak 450 and 550 owners i've heard from, but seeing the take rate on these from those same owners will be interesting... will they see the value in upgrading or stick with what they have.

I think the take rate will depend on which Kodiak owners currently have. The 708cc of the 700 will be a substantial leap from the 421cc that the 450 possesses.

Also, it's not just current Kodiak owners but also owners of ATV's from other brands but of course there's a level of brand loyalty among Yamaha owners which will have them upgrade.

I'm not sure how the Kodiak would fare against other brands' utility ATVs though it is better than the Honda Foreman 4x4 but as you stated, brand loyalty may be a deterrent.
