BEAST Mode !!!

So I spent most of yesterday on my 700 EPS up in the hills behind my house.

There was a big fire last year and they are logging out the burnt timber.

It gets very rough and messy where the heavy equipment has been operating, as most of the soil is a red, sticky clay.

Of course I had to go check out the newly accessible areas and got myself in some pretty steep and off camber situations. So much so that I had to stop and get off the machine, scout the best line down and clear the route I had picked out of debris that could poke, slash, or slide/roll and make me lose control on descent.

Once again, park came in very handy. I actually ended up walking next to the machine in the steepest parts.

Well after all that slow and low technical stuff I was ready to open it up on the "main" roads up there, for lack of a better term. There is a lot less debris but still plenty of muck and ruts so it went into 4x4 high and I engaged the front locker to make sure none of the real muddy parts would stop me.

WOW!!! HANG ON!! Dang thing was like a bucking Billy goat out there! The stiffened steering made it feel like it just wanted to go straight over or through any obstacles we encountered and took decisive muscular persuasion to turn the Beast! In 4x4 with the diff locked and in high gear a guy could really get hurt on this BEAST! I don't regret not getting a Grizzly at all. Sealed rear brake makes for positive braking in the muckiest conditions while the lower stance helps immensely in off-camber situations.

Yeah, it's over a year old now but I still learn new things about it often, sometimes just by riding, but very much thanks to this forum in a lot of cases.

That second photo is just a awesome view.
So nothing to report with the big kodiak yet , but on our old lease we were there moving tree stands and a state trooper come’s down the tractor lane between two corn fields. We walk over to chat with him and he’s looking for a guy and asks if we have seen him. We had not , so he goes to leave and proceeds to turn his 2wd Tahoe around and backs into a 2 ft deep drainage ditch and he wasn’t getting out. So I get the 400 and hook up the tow strap, dropped her in low hit the 4by4 switch and pulled that truck right out like it was nothing. Never spun or bogged down, that little kodiak impressed me that day.

Since they basically clear cut that area near the top, the views have increased dramatically.

Impressive story! I don't think that little 400 was rated to pull a (what 4000lb?) Tahoe. : )B

I don't own a Kodiak. I have a 09 grizzly 550 baught used over two years ago. Other then the engine and stickers our bikes share 90% of the same chassis genetics and design. Thus fare I've racked up 4000 hard miles threw year round riding. My trusty quad has been threw war and back many times for me.
