2018 Kodiak 450 Forum?

Hey all!

I just bought a 2018 450. It seems all of the topics are about the 700. Is there another place I should go or are all Kodiaks welcome?

Thanks!

Congrats on your new Kodiak!

There is no dedicated forum for the new 450s and you're welcome to any of the 700 forums - they're the same animal . Post some pictures of you new machine and let us know how you like it so far. Not many 450 owners here as it is a brand new addition to the yamaha atv line -so you're going to be the lucky first ones who learn about it and help others. Kinda like the Kodi 700 was a couple years back ...new motor, new everything .

Thanks! So far I like it a lot. It doesn't have the power of the 700 but it does pretty well. I haven't really got on it yet (I'm in the break-in period). I'm not able to post images yet but I will soon.

I'm pretty sure the biggest power mod you could do would be a 708cc engine swap, I'm pretty sure it would fit

For what you will have to spend ( and likely still not be satisfied) , you'd have been farther ahead buying the 700 imo. There is a compromise that one needs to be aware of when going with smaller displacement.

Hey guys, I have a 2020 Kodiak 450 EPS. Since the day I bought it, it sort of "lurches" or "jerks" when you first accelerate. It's at a very low rpm, when the clutches engage, you can feel it sort of "grab" and then it drives like normal. No abnormal sounds or anything, just a consistent and somewhat abrupt engagement and I'm wondering if this is on all the 450s. I have ridden many other CVT-equipped quads, mostly kawasaki and polaris, but this is my first Yamaha with a CVT.

Any insight is appreciated. My next step is to go to the dealer and see if the other 450s on the lot do the same thing. If not, time for some warranty work.

Cheers!

It should not learch or jerk at all. Engagement should be smooth from a dead stop. I'd bring it back to the dealer

2009 Grizzly 550 Special Edition, Red Midnight Armour, EPS, 26"Pitbull Growler BG2.5 xor, on 12"polished alloy SE wheels with 1"spacers, Yamaha overfenders & windshield, Heat Demon grips & thumb warmers, 2500lbs Warn winch, two up seat / storage box, Moose rear bumper, Gold Plugs in diffs & engine, COOP45 machined sheave + 0.5mm shim (3.1:1), 18 gram weights, EPI Orange spring

Thanks. I went to the dealer, drove a floor model Kodiak 450, smoooooth as butter. Mine is definitely jacked up. I dropped it off for warranty work, hopefully Yamaha fixes this transmission. Mine is brand new, been like this since I bought it a month ago.
